Request Info?On November 4th, Congress passed legislation that extends and expands the First Time Homebuyer Credit.

The Credit remains $8000 for those that qualify as a first time homebuyer and adds a $6500 credit for those buying a new primary residence if you have lived in your current home for five of the last eight years.

The income limits have been raised to $225,000 for a couple that files jointly.  The limit is $125,000 for a single filer.  The Credit phases out at certain levels so check with a tax professional.

The revised credit is set to expire May 1st, 2009, with an extension to July 1st, 2009 for those that are in a binding purchase contract by May 1st.
